TSS project - RF and Transmission engineers are required

We need 8 RF and 8 Transmission (TX) engineers to carry out Technical Site Survey (TSS) for 200 site across an African country to be started next week.

The candidates must be able to work in team which each team consists of 1 x RF and 1 x TX engineer plus local SA and CW personnel from customer.

Position: Transmission Engineer

Location: Khartoum, Sudan

Start date: ASAP

Duration: 4 months extendable

Scope:

· Very good knowledge on IP networking, IP and Ethernet QoS, VLAN.

· Excellent knowledge on SDH and PDH technologies.

· Basic knowledge on RNC and NodeB to check transmission status.

· Ericsson WCDMA/3G RBS Transmission knowledge and working experience.

· Excellent MINI LINK Traffic Node R4 knowledge:

· General PDH and SDH configuration: E1 cross connection and basic NE configuration..etc.

· Ethernet over PDH configuration.

· Native Ethernet configuration including VLAN, QoS and packet link configuration,

· Troubleshooting: SW loops…ect

· SW upgrade

· HW and SW compatibilities.

· Configure MINI LINK Traffic Nodes for Iub over IP sites (EoPDH and native Ethernet).

· Troubleshoot MINI LINK traffic nodes connectivity and NE problems.

· Prepare for transmission cutover activities: study the existing HW, traffic routing and configuration to ensure smooth transmission cutovers.

· Coordinate the activities of on-site teams and provide guidance when required.

· Coordinate with MPBN, RNC and NodeB engineers to ensure transport network clearance.

Ericsson provides accommodation, local transportation and SIM Card.

Contractor to provide flights, Laptop, Mobile phone and Travel insurance.

ParaCell pays for the management company fees and Visa costs.

TOT Awards $530 Million 3G Contract to Nokia Siemens Networks and Huawei

Thailand's Samart Corp. has won the bidding to build TOT's forthcoming 3G network following a public auction. The action was nearly delayed after protests from Ericsson who claimed they had been unfairly dismissed from bidding, but a court order last night permitted it to go ahead.

The reserve bid for the network tender was set at 17.440 billion baht, and there were 17 bids during the auction.

The Samart consortium - which is made up of Samart, Loxley, Nokia Siemens Networks and Huawei - won with a minimum bid of Bt16.29 billion (US$527 million), which was 6.59 percent below the reserve price. The formal contract is expected to be signed next month with a limited service launch from April.

The state-owned TOT will then expand its 3G coverage of over 5,000 base stations nationwide within this year.
