AHLI perniagaan terkemuka Malaysia, Tan Sri Syed Mokhtar Al-Bukhary bakal menerokai bidang telekomunikasi menerusi penyertaan dalam sebuah konsortium yang bercadang membeli 46 peratus kepentingan ekuiti bernilai AS$13.7 bilion (RM49 bilion) dalam Zain, iaitu syarikat Kuwait yang kini adalah peneraju perkhidmatan mudah alih Asia Barat.
Sumber industri berkata, Syed Mokhtar yang kini terbabit dalam pelbagai aktiviti termasuk tenaga, perladangan, logistik, hartanah dan perhotelan itu menyertai sebuah konsortium yang turut dianggotai dua syarikat telekomunikasi India, Vavasi Group dan Mahanagar Telephone dalam urus niaga berkenaan.
“Setakat ini masih belum jelas mengenai pembahagian pegangan ekuiti dalam konsortium itu, namun ia dijangka dimuktamadkan dalam tempoh empat bulan akan datang,” katanya ketika dihubungi Berita Harian semalam.
Seorang pegawai di sebuah syarikat milik Syed Mokhtar ketika dihubungi petang semalam enggan mengesahkan perkara itu.
“Saya belum dapat menghubungi beliau (Syed Mokhtar). Oleh demikian buat masa ini saya tidak dapat mengesahkannya,” katanya.
Sementara itu National Investments Co KSCC (NIC) dalam pengumumannya kepada Bursa Saham Kuwait Isnin lalu berkata, ia telah dilantik untuk mengendalikan urus niaga penjualan 46 peratus saham dalam Zain.
NIC berkata, ia telah diberitahu oleh pemegang saham utama Zain iaitu Kharafi Group dan beberapa pelabur lain mengenai cada-ngan penjualan pegangan berkenaan.
“Cadangan penjualan saham Zain itu adalah pada harga AS$7 atau 2.0 dinar Kuwait sesaham. Al Khair National antara beberapa pelabur lain dalam Zain juga turut memberitahu untuk menimbangkan cadangan menjual pegangan mereka,” kata kenyataan itu tanpa memberi butiran lanjut pembeli pegangan berkenaan.
NIC adalah syarikat pelaburan yang turut dimiliki kumpulan Al-Kharafi iaitu keluarga terkaya di Kuwait.
Berdasarkan harga yang ditawarkan itu, konsortium itu dijangka membayar kira-kira AS$13.7 bilion (RM49 bilion) bagi 46 peratus pegangan dalam Zain.
Urus niaga berkenaan jika menjadi kenyataan akan mencatat sejarah sebagai pengambilalihan oleh entiti luar yang terbesar di kumpulan negara Teluk.
Kharafi Group adalah pelabur kedua terbesar dalam Zain dengan penguasaan sejumlah 11 peratus pegangan, manakala pemegang saham terbesar syarikat berkenaan adalah sayap pelaburan kerajaan Kuwait iaitu Kuwait Investment Authority yang menguasai 24.61 peratus saham.
Sementara itu, Naib Presiden Kharafi Group, Bard al-Kharafi yang dipetik agensi berita Reuters dalam sidang media di Kuwait semalam berkata, penjualan pelaburan milik kumpulan itu adalah satu peluang baik.
“Urus niaga itu memberi keuntungan kepada kedua-dua pihak,” katanya ketika ditanya tujuan syarikat konglomerat miliki keluarga Al-Kharafi itu menjual pegangannya.
Kumpulan itu menjadi syarikat pertama di Asia Barat yang memperkenalkan perkhidmatan telefon mudah alih sebelum mengembangkan operasinya ke benua Afrika dengan lebih 15,000 kakitangan.

Do you want to mention that you wrote two novels on completely unrelated subjects? Perhaps. However, does it fill the role needed to complete the project? Not really. While it's great that you did, you may not want to mention that at the top of your sales pitch because the prospective client is only looking at what's important to them.
Now, let's touch on the last three requirements. You can show your abilities for these requirements very easily by providing an article on cooking. The article sample should also be the same word count as the requirements. A writing sample like that will show them that you can provide exactly what he needs and will show your aptitude for cooking.
The main thing you should get out of this example is you need to focus like a laser beam on the client requirements. If you can't them that your services are best for their project, then it's not a fit for them or you.
